In  1980, BH max of ferrite magnets that contains strontium is about 3.8 MGOe, Barium ferrite magnet is 4.3 MGOe, technology had made progress in past years and right now the most widely used Y35 ferrite magnet could reach the BH max of 4.16~4.8 MGOE.

High working temperature is a advantage of the ferrite magnet, produce such ferrite magnet have to higher its intrinsic coercivity.

And higher Intrinsic coercivity need smaller the ferrite grains size while sintering. Firstly, CaO,SiO2,C are needed in the ferrite formula. Secondly, grind technique need improved,to produce Y35 ferrite magnet we need to make grains size under 2 μm.

Many of the hard ferrite magnet are produced in ceramic compound technique,ferrite magnet also very brittle and hard,just like ceramic product thus ferrite magnet also been called as ceramic magnet.
